An English and South German mahogany longcase organ clock, third quarter 19th century
The stepped top hood with tracery arch sound frets to the sides and the trunk with pilasters flanking the square top trunk door, on stepped plinth with recessed panel, the 11in. white dial painted with a couple dancing a jig to the arch, between two apertures (formerly for moving figures), the spandrels painted with figures engaged in musical activities, the white centre with rubbed signature ...EDINBURGH, with a dummy winding hole, the brass four pillar movement with anchor escapement and hour strike on gong, with side wound weight-driven 13½in. brass pinned cylinder playing eight airs on twenty seven wooden pipes (some lacking) -- 87in. On the Thursday 14 September a transfer and administration charge of £18.50 per furniture lot, and £9.25 per non-furniture lot; and a storage charge of £3.20 per furniture lot and £1.60 per non-furniture lot per day; will come into effect. These charges are payable to Cadogan Tate and are subject to VAT and an insurance surcharge.
