FONTANA ARTE, CIRCA 1934

This lot was commissioned by a distinguished collector in the early 1930s from Fontana Arte for his apartment Ai Parioli in Rome, Italy. In 1933, Gio Ponti and Luigi Fontana founded Fontana Arte which incorporated the design firm of Pietra Chiesa in Milan. Chiesa, who served as artistic director of Fontana Arte became renowned for his innovative applications of glass and production of glass and wood furniture.
