1956 SPATZ

Chassis No. 00523
Red with original grey interior. For restoration.

Engine: 191cc, single cylinder; Gearbox: four speed and reverse; Brakes: four wheel hydraulic; Suspension: front coil spring, rear swinging axle. Left hand drive.

The Spatz, meaning "sparrow" was another conception from the dedicated designer Egon Brutsch. Harold Friedrich acquired the rights to Brutsch's "200" three wheeler and commissioned Hans Leduruka to redesign it as a proper four wheeled car. Production started in 1956 and they were built by B.A.C in Nurnburg, Germany, to be sold through the Victoria dealership network.

This Spatz is an example of a very rare, sporting, doorless Cabriolet which requires a major restoration. It is believed to be generally sound and comes complete with a large quantity of new "old stock" spares. The bodyshell, chassis and engine are complete as one unit, although the rest of the car has been dismantled prior to impending restoration work. Many difficult parts, including an original Spatz emblem, are included with the car which should make an interesting and rewarding project.

It is sold with old style German registration documents.
