Details
1953 RELIANT REGAL MK I
Chassis No. 530427
Red and black with red interior. For restoration.
Engine: Reliant four cylinder, 747cc; Gearbox: four speed and reverse; Brakes: hydraulic; Suspension: front torsion bar, rear leaf spring. Right hand drive.
Reliant took over production of the Raleigh three-wheeled van in 1934, but it was not until 1953 that the first Reliant three-wheeled car came into being. This used their own Reliant 747cc engine, driven through a four-speed gearbox; the bodywork was aluminium which clothed an ash frame - glassfibre bodies were not used until 1956. The Regal advanced through six designations, adding new features such as synchromesh to the gearbox and curved windscreens.
This particular Regal is a Mk I and is one of four examples known to the Reliant Owners' Club. The car should form a solid base for restoration and comes with a range of spare parts. Recently in the news again, this is an opportunity to acquire one of the first examples of the marque.
It comes with an old style buff log book.
