In 1949 a scrap metal dealer named Paul Kleinschnittger started to build small cars with all-aluminium bodies. His first car to be produced for the general market was the F-125 (as on offer today) of which 2,980 were sold. After seven years of production of the F-125 Kleinschnittger finally went into receivership, ironically just before they were due to begin production of a new 250cc fastback model which looked as though it could have been their saviour. However, despite the relatively brief existence of Kleinschittger, the F-125 remains a very well balanced car with an innovative body and a well engineered steel- tube chassis.

This particular 1952 F-125 is a rare survivor from the original 2,980 produced. Finished in red with a black interior, the car has been fully restored to the highest standard in the current ownership. It was purchased (along with the sister 1954 car in the collection) from a German enthusiast who was a personal friend of Mrs. Paul Kleinschnittger. The cars both required major restoration and two new bodyshells were manufactured to the original specifications by highly skilled British panelbeaters. The cars were then mechanically overhauled where necessary and the 1952 example re-trimmed in new black vinyl. It features the very rare, correct cycle-type tyres, early-style square windshield and other original differences in bodywork from the later F-125, such as the Hella headlights.

The power unit is the original ILO single cylinder, 123cc, two-stroke engine and the car is believed to start and drive well.

Originally described by the designer as a 'four-wheeled scooter' this 'little roadster' should give tremendous joy to its new owner.

It is sold with German paperwork.
