Lot Essay

Porto Maurizio is on the coast near San Remo. Lear used this composition as part of his scheme to illustrate the poems of Tennyson. The poem here illustrated is The Daisy (see R. Pitman, Edward Lear's Tennyson, 1988, p. 206.)
