An English carved and gilded frame, late 18th century
With foliate ogee to the outer edge, outer scotia, the raised ovolo moulding with gadrooning running to acanthus leaf corners, pin-and-ribbon twist, inner scotia, astragal with imbricated husks, the spandrels with anthemia flanked by scrolling foliage and flower heads in low relief on cross-hatched ground, further minor mouldings to the circular sight edge, diameter -- 133/8in. (34cm.), section -- 5¾in. (14.5cm.)
