A French early Louis XIV carved and gilded frame, mid 17th century
With foliate ribbon-twist to the outer edge, reverse scotia, the ovolo carved with acanthus leaves flanked by scrolling foliage and floral sprays on hatched ground, conforming centres, ogee with stylised foliate motifs, later sight edge -- 34½ x 27 x 43/8in. (87.5 x 68.6 x 11.1cm.)
