A Thuringen-engraved armorial goblet and a cover
Second quarter 18th Century
The generous funnel bowl engraved with the elaborate coat of arms of an archbishop and Kurfürst under a crown (Kurhut) within a cartouche above a panelled flattened knop over a moulded stem, the folded domed foot with a laurel wreath, the domed cover engraved, with knopped spire finial
30cm. (11 7/8 in.) high

Lot Essay

This goblet is commemorative of a Hochmeister des Deutschen Ordens, by repute possibly for Clemens August of Cologne on his initiation to the above Order on the 17th of July 1732.
