A pair of English white marble campana urns
19th century
With everted rims and part-gadrooned undersides, on waisted socles and square section bases
30¼in. (78.5cm.) high, 28½in. (72.5cm.) diameter, the base -- 12in. (30.5cm.) square;
with a later associated pair of reconstituted stone pedestals, with fielded panelled sides and stepped moulded bases -- 27in. (68.5cm) high; 19in. (48.5cm) square cap (2)
Provenance
Earls of Harcourt. Previously at Nuneham Park, Nuneham Courtenay, Oxfordshire. One of four pairs of similar white marble urns originally decorating the balustrading on the south terrace at Nuneham Park, following Sir Robert Smirke's alteration of the south wing in 1832.
