AN Art Deco Enamel Box By Cartier, And A Powder Box by Van Cleef & Arpels
The first designed as a hinged rectangular gold box with white enamel floral surface to the black enamel border and diamond push-pieces, 1936, London assay mark for 18K gold and maker's mark, 9.8 x 8.2 x 1.4 cm., the second also rectangular with raised sapphire and ruby floral detail to the pushpiece opening to reveal a powder compartment and mirror, circa 1935, with French assay marks, 8.4 x 5.4 x 1.2 cm.
First box signed Cartier London, no. 4316, the other signed Van Cleef & Arpels Inc., no. 50624 and 3066 (2)
