Maker's mark of Paul de Lamerie, London, 1728, Britannia standard
Bell-shaped and on spreading circular foot, cast and chased with a band of shells, rosettes, husks and strapwork on a matted ground, the lower part of the body applied with a band of strapwork, chased with classical portratit medallions within laurel wreaths and with shell, foliate scroll and diaperwork decoration, alternating with plain straps, all on a matted ground, with two leaf-capped scroll handles and with moulded mid-rib, the detachable domed cover with baluster finial, and similarly applied with strapwork, the body and cover engraved with shell and foliate scroll border, the body additionally engraved with four oval palm frond and berried laurel cartouches each enclosing a female portrait bust, and with two baroque demi-winged cherub, shell and foliate scroll cartouche, one enclosing a coat-of-arms, the other a later engraved crest with motto beneath, marked on base and cover
