An Austrian agate, malachite and silver-gilt tazza
unmarked, circa 1870
In the Renaissance style, the slightly domed foot with shaped border engraved with foliate scrolls and inset with malachite panels, rising to an engraved tapering stem with malachite panels and engraved compressed ball knop, the agate bowl bordered with panels of malachite within silver-gilt leaf border and foliate scroll rim, with two cast caryatid and scroll figure handles, apparently unmarked
