A brown lacquer and pottery natsume (powdered tea container)
with domed cover, decorated in gold and coloured hiramaki-e with scrolling vine leaves, the crackle glazed interior with a related design in green and brown irredescent glazes in the style of Ogata Kenzan (1663-1743) -- 2½in. (6.4cm) high, 19th Century, (two very minor rim chips).
