and cover, applied in black and gold lacquer and inset aogai with a running hare, scrolling waves, crescent moon and maple leaves, the interior fitted with three smaller rectangular lidded boxes -- 2.7/8in. (7.4cm) wide, 19th Century, (age cracks to three corners).
