The case with recessed panel to the plinth on a simple moulded skirt, recessed beading to the trunk centered by a glazed rectangular door with ram's head and husk gilt-metal escutcheon, the flat-top hood with beaded angles, the 12in. sq. regulator dial of unusual format with a brass plate overlaid with a silvered regulator dial signed Alexr. Philip, Edinburgh and with blued steel hands, the mask cut out for the applied gilt winged cherub spandrels, the movement with four pillars, jewelled deadbeat escapement, wheels with six crossings, Harrison's maintaining power, fine adjustment to the crutchpiece of the steel-rod pendulum with lead-filled brass jar with calibrated lid with steel pointer above the T-piece, the steel pointer swinging against the silvered calibrated beat scale fixed to the backboard
