A Louis Philippe ormolu quarter striking table regulator with coup perdu escapement, calendar and moonphase

The substantial and elaborate ormolu case with an acanthus and berried leaf-cast moulding to the rectangular plinth on the foliate cast and fluted feet, bevelled glasses to the front and sides within leaf-cast moulded frames, elaborate foliate volutes supporting the sides, the detachable breakarch top with lappet mouldings, the top incised with pounced chequering, bayonnet-fixed foliate cast glazed bezel to the dial with annular white enamel outer seconds ring with counterpoised blued steel hand and signed PAUL- GARNIER HGER. DE ROI, eccentric hour and minute white enamel annular Roman chapter ring at VI with elaborate foliate-pierced ormolu hands centred by a star-spangled blue enamel centre with central white enamel disc showing the age of moon indicated by a fixed gilt pointer within the blue enamelled background, the recessed gilt centre displaying the coup perdu escapement and triple calendar windows for day, date and month, the massive movement with four large double-screwed pillars, the large going barrels wound from either side of the seconds ring, the quarter snail on the elaborate backplate signed Paul Garnier Horloger de Roi, No. 1844, the grid-iron pendulum spring-suspended from a substantial bracket on the backplate and with fine adjustment to the crutch-piece and to the calibrated nut with blued steel pointer beneath the bob, applied with stone-set royal crown
