The obverse with a charioteer driving a quadriga to the right, the driver wearing a long, white sleeveless chiton, a Boeotian shield slung over his left shoulder, holding the reins and a goad, and looking back at a horseman with a spear, with Hermes to the right, his right hand raised, his kerykeion held in his left horizontally across his body, an inscription above the horses; the reverse preserving a seated sphinx to the right and the rear portion of a feline, a large bird below the handle to the left, parts of a panther preserved below the handle to the right; with rays above the foot, alternating red and black tongues on the shoulders, seated sphinxes on the handle-plates, zigzag lines on the side of the rim, and lotus buds on the upper surface of the rim; details in added red and white
