AN EAST GREEK FIGURAL ARYBALLOS
circa early 6th century b.c.
Probably Rhodian, molded in the form of a warrior's head wearing an Ionian helmet, his almond-shaped white eyes outlined in black, with black irises, brows and lips, the black-glazed helmet outlined in red, with a flaring neck-guard, the cheek-pieces with white dot-rosettes with red at their centers, the metopon with an incised and painted palmette, the rectangular projection at the front of the crest with red and white crossed lines, the vessel mouth with radiating black lines
