TWO NORTH SYRIAN TERRACOTTA FEMALE FIGURES
circa late 3rd-early 2nd millennium b.c.
Both hand-modelled, one wearing a flaring patterned gown and a series of elaborate necklaces, her hair in thick plaits framing her face, a large knot in back, with pellet eyes and a pinched nose, her arms hugging her body below her breast; and one nude with a groove between the legs and feet, her toes indicated, slim waisted, with wide shoulders, her hands (one missing) forming small loops, wearing a necklace and a pointed cap, with a pinched nose and pierced ears
