SIX NEAR EASTERN CYLINDER SEALS
circa early-mid 2nd millennium b.c.
Including three Syrian haematite seals, one engraved with a standing female deity surrounded by facing animals; one with a nude figure kneeling on either side of a stylized tree surmounted by a winged sun-disk, a bird and a hare in the field; and one with two facing robed deities, a snail below, facing winged griffins above a guilloche, two running animals below as the terminal; a Syrian greenish serpentine seal with a row of horizontal stags and hares; and two Syro-Mitannian haematite seals, one engraved with two facing winged griffins, a bird and an ibex as the terminal; the other with two facing ibexes on either side of a tall outstretched bird, and a stag and a bull with their heads turned back
