The 'Secretary and Bookcase' pattern, with elliptic cresting and commode doors embellished with medallioned tablets, derives from a pattern in Thomas Sheraton's The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, London, 1793; while its mosaiced glazing incorporates elements from The Cabinet-maker's London Book of Prices, London 1788, pls. XV, no. 10 and XXVII, no. 7.
