Gillows of London and Lancaster supplied a group of related rosewood furniture to William Powlett, 2nd Baron Bolton (d. 1850) for the saloon at Hackwood Park, Hampshire. It included a pair of card-tables with similarly gadrooned and acanthus-clasped column legs (sold from the estate of the 2nd Viscount Camrose, Hackwood Park, Christie's house sale, 20-22 April 1998, lot 51). A similar table was sold anonymously in these Rooms, March 9 2000, lot 177.
