The Mauser anti-tank rifle was introduced as an answer to the advent of the tank on the battlefields of the First World War. With its massive 13mm cartridge, it was capable of piercing any tank armour but its great weight and clumsiness earned it the rather affectionate nickname 'Elefant-Buechse'
