These spurs were made by Tiffany & Co. for display at the Columbian Exposition of 1893. Held in Chicago, The Columbian Exposition was the last World's Fair of the nineteenth century, and served as a showcase for American design and creativity. Tiffany & Co. created lavish displays of their finest silver in an effort to outshine their competetion and promote their unique style. These spurs have the mark used on Tiffany silver made specifically for this event.
