The moulded circular top with malichite and interlaced Greek key border with eight scenes of Italian cities including St. Peter's Square, Rome; St. Mark's Square, Venice; The Bay of Naples; The Duomo, Milan; The Colosseum, Rome; The Piazza Signoria, Florence; Palermo and Messina, with central roundel depicting Romulus and Remus suckling the She-Wolf beside a stream, within a palmette and scrolling foliage border, on a later giltwood base, restorations to micromosaic, especially to areas of sky, with label to the underside inscribed 'Lot 1263'
