Each with rectangular padded back, arms and seat covered in blue and white close-cut floral velvet, the frame covered with entrelac, the arms issuing from foliate angles and fluted columns headed by gadrooned finials, the spirally-fluted baluster supports with foliate bases, on ring-turned fluted tapering legs with reeded collars and toupie feet, restoration to the seat rails, regilt, with remnants of paper label and Italian custom stamp (2)

The detached fluted columns flanking the back and the characteristic circular legs with rounded collars are a recurrent feature in the oeuvre of Jean-Baptiste Bernard Demay, maître in 1784.
