The Baptist preaching in the wilderness

Possibly connected to an altarpiece depicting the Baptist in the parish church of Dosso near Cento, commissioned in 1780, P. Bagni, I Gandolfi, Milan, 1992, p. 201, no. 187. A study for the picture, closer to the final composition than the present lot, is in the church at Dosso, P. Bagni, no. 188.
