Knight, Death and the Devil
engraving, 1513, a fine, rich Meder a impression printed in dark black and displaying excellent contrasts, trimmed on or fractionaly inside the platemark, just inside the subject at the right of the lower sheet edge, and at the right sheet edge where two minor nicks just intrude into the image to the right of the Devil's ear and shoulder, minor surface rubbing at the blank upper right corner, the upright plate edge at this corner enhanced with pen and ink, the tip of the lance also touched (?), part of Esdaile's inscription just showing through lower right, minor skinned patches on the reverse, a thin strip of old adhesive at the sheet edges verso
