A RARE PAIR OF ELLIOTT 1863 PATENT 12-BORE (2¾IN) BAR-IN-WOOD SIDELOCK HAMMER GUNS BY WIGGAN ELLIOTT & CO., NO. 3055/3213
Incorporating H. Elliott patent No. 1782 of 16th. July 1863, the snap-action push-forward underlever operating a single bevelled top-bite, rebounding sidelocks, best foliate-scroll engraving, well-figured stocks with butt-plates, the skeletal action-bars enclosing the bar-in-wood at the forend-knuckles, elongated forends, the browned fine damascus barrels with sunken game-ribs and engraved breech-flats
Weight 6lb. 2½oz. (No. 3055) and 6lb. 9½oz. (No. 3213), approx. 145/8in. pulls, 30in. barrels, all approx. cyl. (relieved), 2¾in. chambers, Black Powder reproof (No. 3055 barrel-thicknesses marginal)
