"Going by the motto, 'you can get closer to your subject one piece at a time', Warhol uses the Big Shot, which had been specially developed for portraits, to move in on his motifs until he was less than a meter away. The face and head are cut off as he focuses on the body, the genitals become the center-point...The camera overcomes the distance of the viewer, our immediate propinquity creates the impression that we are involved. Sexuality...is captured...without sensitive transfiguration or idealization of the subject; instead, his images express vehement primordial energy. Warhol was interested in women's faces but in men's bodies." (C.
