'In 1949 he visited Canada as a guest-instructor at the Banff School of Fine Art in Alberta. There he made a fine series of Canadian forest scenes and mountain subjects which he exhibited on his return at the Leicester Galleries in a one-man show. After years of painting English scenes and desert scenes the change of subject must have been welcome.' (D. Percy Bliss, Edward Bawden, Godalming and Toronto, p.62).
