Lot Essay

The close resemblance between the legs of this chair and those of the pair of side chairs from Wentworth Woodhouse, lot 141, and the set of dining-chairs, lot 140, all attributed to Wright and Elwick, raises the possibility that this exceptionally unusual chair is by that firm.
