Nuremberg, circa 1600, maker's mark HB conjoined in a circle
On circular spreading foot chased with band of matting and lobes, the vase-shaped hexafoil stem with lobes at the shoulders and applied grotesque mask scroll brackets, the ovoid bowl repoussé and chased with plain elongated lobes between flowers, shells, scrolls and strapwork on matted ground, with moulded band above, the cover similarly repoussé and chased, the raised centre with flowers and strapwork and finial formed as Prudence, on waisted plinth, marked on base, bowl and cover
