Contemporary Roman calf gilt with arms of Pope Benedict XIV at centre (some wear at spine). Provenance: Pope Benedict XIV (Prosper Lambertini, 1740-58, binding); Mortimer Schiff (sale Sotheby's, 9 December 1938, lot 2205, £2.10 to Maggs); and 10 others in the lot, mostly 17th- and 18th-century Italian morocco gilt, five with Cardinal's arms.
