Fourth edition. The Historia ecclesiastica is the most important history of the church written in ancient times. It is particularly valuable as a source for the history of the early church and various early sects and movements; in many instances it is our only knowledge of figures and events dating from the first 3 centuries. This edition is one of only six books printed by Schall at Mantua. It was his last book, and it follows his other five editions after a hiatus of 4 years.
