Royal 2° (399 x 281mm). Collation: [16 2-710.8 88 910 10-118 12-1310 14-158 1610 178 1810 19-208 2110 228 2310 246 2510 26-288 2910 308 3110] (1/1 blank, 1/2r table, 2/1r text, 25/1r sermon 85, 31/10v blank). 269 (of 270, without first blank) leaves. 60 lines and headline, double column. Types: 2:120G (headings), 1:93aG (text). One- to 8-line initials, capital strokes and paragraph marks in red. (Numerous discreet marginal repairs, including remargining of first leaf, a few small stains.) Early 20th-century burgundy blindtooled crushed morocco, gilt edges, signed by Rivière and Son (a few scuff marks). Provenance: early inscription washed from first leaf, contemporary annotations on final blank verso; William Robinson (bookseller, catalogue description tipped in).
One of the earliest books printed at the first Reutlingen press, established by Michael Greyff about 1476. BSB and Polain describe 9 leaves in the final quire, but the present copy (and the Nakles copy, c.f Christie's NY, 17 April 2000, lot 70) have ten printed leaves in that quire.
