LEMNIUS, Levinus (1505-1568). Occulta naturae miracula. Antwerp: Joannes Withagius for Willem Simone, 1564. 8° (161 x 85mm.) Small woodcut device on title, portrait of the author on verso. (Worming in upper margins of quires G-I and Xx to the end with occasional loss of text, top margins cut close, a few side-notes shaved, light waterstaining at the beginning.) 19th-century calf (hinges rubbed). Provenance: the Earl of Kimberley (bookplate, dated 1838). Third, enlarged, edition of this book of secrets by the pupil of Vesalius and the friend of Dodoens and Gesner. This edition not in BMC, Adams or Caillet.

(Title slightly defective and backed, final blank pasted down, preceding leaf a little creased and torn, some spotting.) Contemporary vellum (somewhat darkened).
