A founder's charter of a Premonstratensian abbey. De Stuteville grants the lands 'for the safety of my soul and those of my wife Johanna, of my father, and mother, and for the souls of all my ancestors and descendants, and for the soul of Roger Bishop of Norwich'.

Wendling Abbey, near East Dereham, Norfolk, was founded in 1267 by William de Wendling as the last of the Premonstratensian foundations. Robert de Stuteville was the tenant in chief of the area: as de Wendling was a cleric, this donation enabled to de Stuteville to claim the patronage of the abbey and the official status of a founder (H.M. Colvin The White Canons, pp.191ff). The text of the charter is given in Dugdale's Monasticon (VI.890).
