2 parts in one volume, 2° (387 x 237mm). Engraved frontispiece by Van der Gucht, engraved title vignette to each part. (Frontispiece holed with slight loss, occasional burn holes in both parts, causing loss of a few letters, stain at inner margin of 2L2 in part one, hole in blank area of 2S4 in part two.) FINELY-BOUND IN CONTEMPORARY RED GOATSKIN, gilt-tooled to a 'cottage-roof' design with a broken panel and onlaid crucifom centre-piece in black, the longer sides of the panel formed by leafy flower stems with 'sweet sultans' at tips, other stems trailing from urns and either terminating with closed tulips onlaid in black or open tulips onlaid in citron, spine in compartments with raised bands, gilt-lettered in one, the rest with repeated design of linked circles and onlays. (Some slight discolouration to covers, small scuff mark near the bottom of upper cover, slight staining and scuffing in upper part of lower cover, several onlays on spine chipped, extremities rubbed). Provenance: 'Gift of ... Meriton Esq. to the Revd. Nathl. Moore Anno. Dom. 1727' (gift label on front pastedown placed over an earlier removed bookplate, and itself partly removed); '10-6d White Fleet St. 1806' (inscription on front blank); Mary Cholmondeley 1835 (pencil inscription on front free endpaper).
