(Title cropped at upper and lower margin, affecting first word and last line of imprint, text leaves cropped with partial or total loss of running titles, catch-letters and catch-words at lower margin similarly affected, short tear at foot of K3, nick at lower margin of K4 touching on text, verso of K4 with pen trials at blank margins, recto of the final leaf L2 cropped with partial loss of bottom line of text, also with small tear affecting bottom 2 lines of text, some browning and staining thoughout.) Early 20th-century brown half calf and marbled boards by Morrell, smooth spine titled and dated longitudinally in gilt. Provenance: Thomas Dawe (early signature on title).
Fourth edition. The 'W. Weak' of the imprint is thought to be a misprint for W. Leake, the owner of the copyright, who died in the year of publication. The first edition was printed by Nicholas Okes in 1622, the tragedy having been written between 1602 and 1604 when it was performed before James I at Whitehall.
