2° (357 x 222mm). Engraved title with a portrait of the author at head, woodcut portrait of the author on the verso of *4, numerous small woodcut illustrations in the text. (Lacks the last leaf, probably blank, occasional light browning.) CONTEMPORARY GOLD-TOOLED BROWN GOATSKIN BY BATEMAN, double fillet and roll-tool dental border, centre panel with smaller roll and double fillet enclosing large floral corner-pieces and the centrally-placed ARMS OF JAMES I in a semis of fleurs-de-lys, flat gilt spine divided into compartments, gilt edges (spine faded and worn at foot, old repairs in hinges which have again become cracked, corners bumped, lacks ties).
