PRINTED ON SILK, with each 'leaf' consisting of two sewn together, and with an engraved frontispiece. Contemporary red straight-grained morocco, panelled in gilt and blind. Lowndes p. 1489, mentioning copies on vellum, but none on silk.
William FALCONER (1732-1769). The Shipwreck: A Poem. London: William Miller, 1804. 8° (262 x 169mm). PRINTED ON SILK, with half-title, 3 engraved plates and 5 vignettes by J. Fittler after N. Pocock. (Some light marginal staining and browning.) Late 19th-century red morocco by Bedford, covers with gilt corner-pieces and central lozenge, gilt-panelled spine, gilt edges. Provenance: H. Harvey Frost (booklabel); Courtlandt F. Bishop (morocco label). First published in 1762. This edition includes a life of the author by James Stanier Clarke. Lowndes p. 776 describes it as the 'best edition,' but does not mention copies on silk. (2)
