4° (292 x 212mm). Title in red and black with engraved portrait vignette, series half-title, engraved series title. Cosway-style binding in later red/brown morocco gilt, upper cover with oval sunken panel, the panel with an inset original oval portrait miniature of Charles I, the miniature within a gilt metal frame, within a black morocco onlaid 'garter', with a gilt crown above and double-C monogram beneath, the sunken panel surrounded by a stylized wreath, the outer border with onlaid black morocco, gilt tooled with fillets, dot-rolls with crowned double-C monograms at the corner-pieces, the lower cover with similar outer border in gilt but without black morocco onlay, spine in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second, the first with crowned double-C monogram, the others with various royal coats-of-arms, gilt turn-ins, gilt edges (glass cover to miniature lacking).
