Frontispiece portraits, with skilful later hand-colouring, 5 plates, 3 leaves of folding facsimile manuscript, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with a 4-page autograph letter signed from Dowden to an unnamed correspondent and 93 plates, 18 hand-coloured). Cosway-style binding in later blue morocco gilt by Bayntun (Riviere), upper cover of volume I inset with original oval portrait miniature of Shelley, the miniature surrounded by a border of three fillets and a ring of inset seed pearls, elaborate gilt outer borders to upper covers of both volumes with arabesque tooling and strapwork, the lower covers with borders displaying a simplified version of the strapwork on the upper covers, spines gilt in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second and fourth, the others with a repeat pattern in gilt, gilt turn-ins, watered-silk endleaves, gilt edges, (slight discolouration to spines).
