Parts I - II in one volume, 8° (246 x 147mm). 8-page publisher's advertisement dated 1 March 1824 bound in at the end of part II. 20 hand-coloured etched plates and woodcut illustrations by and after George Cruikshank. EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with an pen and ink drawing by Cruikshank of a bespectacled gentleman reading a newspaper, 160 x 950mm, laid down on a piece of paper and tipped in at the front. (Lacking advertisement and 'The Retrospective Review. Address' at the front of part I.) Early 20th-century dark brown crushed morocco gilt, the spine gilt in compartments, titled in 2 and ornately decorated in the others. Hand-coloured etched frontispieces, additional titles and 32 plates after Cruikshank. EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with a 5-page autograph letter signed from Cruikshank to R.C. Rawlins, about a visit to Chester, guarded and tipped onto the free endpapers. Mid 20th-century red polished calf gilt by Bayntun (Riviere), the covers with gilt-ruled borders, the upper covers with central gilt designs after Cruikshank, the spines gilt in 6 compartments, gilt morocco lettering-pieces in 2, the others decorated with caricatures after Cruikshank, roll-tooled gilt turn-ins, top edges gilt, others uncut. LIMITED TO 260 COPIES.

Etched frontispiece and 6 plates by Roberts after Cruikshank. (Scattered light spotting, a few skilfully-repaired short tears.) Early 20th-century red crushed morocco gilt by Wallis, the covers with gilt-ruled borders, the spine gilt in 6 compartments, titled in 2 and dated at the foot, the others decorated with fleurons, roll-tooled gilt turn-ins, gilt edges.
