Hand-coloured etched frontispieces, additional titles and 32 plates after Cruikshank. EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with a 5-page autograph letter signed from Cruikshank to R.C. Rawlins, about a visit to Chester, guarded and tipped onto the free endpapers. Mid 20th-century red polished calf gilt by Bayntun (Riviere), the covers with gilt-ruled borders, the upper covers with central gilt designs after Cruikshank, the spines gilt in 6 compartments, gilt morocco lettering-pieces in 2, the others decorated with caricatures after Cruikshank, roll-tooled gilt turn-ins, top edges gilt, others uncut. LIMITED TO 260 COPIES.

Etched frontispiece and 6 plates by Roberts after Cruikshank. (Scattered light spotting, a few skilfully-repaired short tears.) Early 20th-century red crushed morocco gilt by Wallis, the covers with gilt-ruled borders, the spine gilt in 6 compartments, titled in 2 and dated at the foot, the others decorated with fleurons, roll-tooled gilt turn-ins, gilt edges. Provenance Albert M. Cohn (bookplate, typed note initialled in manuscript about this copy tipped in). COHN'S COPY OF AN EDITION 'PREVIOUSLY QUITE UNKNOWN [...] THE ONLY [COPY] I HAVE EVER SEEN'.
