4° (258 x 195mm). Half-title. Original pencil sketch by Greenaway depicting a girl in a long coat and hat, with a muff, authenticated with John Greenaway's signature on the mount, 179 x 89mm., title vignette after Greenaway, manuscript facsimile of Dobson's poem ''K.G'', colour-printed frontispiece and 53 plates after Greenaway, and 26 half-tone plates and numerous other illustrations and facsimiles after Greenaway and others. (Occasional light spotting.) Contemporary crushed purple morocco gilt by Zaehnsdorf 1905, the upper cover with the gilt, crowned monogram of Lady Julia Dillon surrounded by a wreath formed of flower tools, the petals and leaves painted red, blue and green, the lower cover lettered in gilt 'KATE GREENAWAY' and surrounded by a similar wreath, the spine divided into 6 compartments by raised bands and lettered in gilt in 2, gilt-ruled turn-ins over the original colour-printed endpapers after Greenaway, gilt edges (spine lightly faded). Provenance: Lady Julia Dillon (d.1925, presentation inscription 'Lady Dillon with every good wish Xmas 1905. from Chas. P. J. [?]March', gilt monogram on covers).
