Woodcut title border and initial to each sonnet. 20th-century crushed blue morocco gilt by Bagguley of Newcastle-under-Lyme, the covers elaborately gilt with a large central 'snowflake' design composed of floral, foliate and pointillé tools, enclosed by broad borders of leaf rolls with floral corner- and centrepieces within rules, the spine gilt in 6 compartments and titled in one, gilt ruled turn-ins with floral and pointillé cornerpieces, top edge gilt (spine lightly faded). Provenance: ?sale, Sotheby's 2-4 February 1953, lot 534, to Sawyer; Chas. J. Sawyer (item 145, catalogue description loosely inserted).
A FINELY-BOUND COPY, printed on Whatman paper watermarked '1900'. Cf. BL General Catalogue of Printed Books ... Supplement 1971-1975, shelfmark X.981/10232 ('ca. 1910').
