Uniform red half crushed morocco gilt by Maclehose, Glasgow, the spines titled in gilt and decorated with stylised scenes of galleons below radiant suns, and anchors and other maritime motifs, top edges gilt, others trimmed (extremities lightly rubbed, covers marked or dampstained).

FIRST EDITIONS IN AN UNUSUAL BINDING of Captain Marryat's novels and adventure stories, which drew widely on his naval experiences and travels, particularly in America and Canada in the early years of the 19th century. (40)
