Engraved frontispiece, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with an autograph letter signed by Lockhart to Taylor, discussing an article by Southey about Telford, 16 August 1838, one page, 8°, and 350 18th- and 19th-century engraved, etched and other prints, some mounted or inlaid to size. (Scattered light spotting.) Late 19th-century half crushed olive morocco gilt by Tout & Sons, the spines gilt in 6 compartments, titled in 2, the others decorated with thistle tools, top edges gilt, others trimmed (spines faded).
